The air looked hazy, but not too bad, from the village of Saratoga at 11:00 AM. So I went home to pack up a few things and do laundry. By 2:00 PM the wind changed and smoke from the Santa Cruz side of the mountains began to roll in. Usually this shot would show San Francisco Bay across to Oakland. Even the forest around Sunnyvale mountain is obscured by smoke.
Fortunately we still have a small supply of N95 masks acquired prior to the March COVID lock down, for normal outdoor work. The mask makes the air barely tolerable but it is a far better mask than the surgical ones I've been wearing for the "mask protocol." Time to head back to the valley!
