When I was in Oman several years ago, I came upon fishermen hauling bags of sardines from the sea to waiting pickup trucks. My guide, Abdullah, explained that this was a rare time when predator fish chase sardines towards the shore to trap them. The sardines may think they are getting away from the sea predators, but they run right into nets place by humans. Gulls view the drama from the air and then swoop down, hoping to snag some of the fish.
